Castle Vale Performing Arts College is a 900 student 11 - 16 school situated in the East of Birmingham.  It serves the Castle Vale and Erdington areas of the City and has approximately equal numbers of girls and boys.  Our school has excellent facilities for sport, the arts and ICT.

Our examination outcomes are rising and we are delighted that in 2009 61% of our students left us with 5 A*-C grade GCSE passes.

As a Performing Arts College the school places important emphasis on drama, art, dance and music both as a means to raise confidence and performance skills but also to provide an exciting range of extra curricular activities for all students.  Some of our highlight events are our excellent shows such as the recent High School Musical show.

Our curriculum is exciting and innovative and at key stage 4 (14 - 16 years) we offer a range of vocational curriculum opportunities including Construction and the Built Environment which takes place on our site and Beauty Therapy which is also taught in house.  These two practical courses are part of programme that also includes BTEC qualifications in the performing arts, music, business, sport, public services, media, motor vehicle maintenance and health and social care.

We have invested heavily in ICT to support teaching and learning and our students now have access to portable laptop technology in all lessons, and the software to be able to develop podcasts and animation techniques.  These opportunities form part of our overall strategy to enthuse and motivate students in their education and to encourage them to aim for our mission statement of 'achieving excellence together'. 

The Castle Vale estate has been much refurbished in recent years with new shopping Malls, a new High Street, community centre and other excellent facilities.  The school has strong and committed links with many of the organisation within Castle Vale and uses these to build upon the enterprise and business agenda for the benefits of students.

Our school is a forward looking one keen to link with local community and welcomes visitors.  We aim to produce confident, well educated citizens for Castle Vale and the City of Birmingham long into the future.
